UBA Development Programs

The Utah Bankers Association offers a series of development programs designed to help advance budding talent within Utah's banking industry. These interactive annual programs are an important part of the UBA’s ongoing effort to help develop leaders, building a strong future for the banking industry in Utah.

The intense learning experience programs, taught by subject experts in each of these specialized areas are convenient, timely and cost-effective by offering lower in-state travel expense. 

Executive Development Program (EDP)

Held Annually January to November - 12 classes

As we continue to work through the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we will move class to a virtual format as necessary.  Otherwise, classes will be held live in Salt Lake City.

The Executive Development Program (EDP) is a comprehensive twelve-month course designed to cultivate the next generation of banking leaders. It is an ideal opportunity for aspiring executives to step up their career and for institutions to invest in the strong bank leaders of tomorrow.

Exceptional instructors, with years of industry insights and experience, facilitate interactive course sessions that focus on the important economic, regulatory and competitive pressures facing the industry today including:

Bankers participating in EDP are provided with:

  • A convenient schedule designed with the busy professional in mind. Classes take place once a month over a twelve-month course period and only 6-8 hours of homework prior to each class.
  • One-on-one mentoring program with a self-selected bank executive.
  • Many opportunities to network with class peers, as well as program alumni.
  • Practical skills and lessons that can be put into immediate practice.
  • A solid foundation for their career and an excellent precursor to financial educational opportunities such as the Pacific Coast Banking School.

Credit Analyst Development Program (CADP)

2021 Class Dates: April 5, 12; May 6, 13; June 3, 4
Cost: $1,950 for 6 classes

The CADP is intended to help credit analysts, consumer and mortgage lenders, personal bankers, business development officers, loan documentation specialists, and retail branch managers develop the basic analytical and specialized skills needed to effectively support the commercial or business lending functions in the bank. This comprehensive program includes sessions on the role of a credit analyst; a refresher on basic accounting; a review of personal and business tax returns; basic financial analysis tools, specific types of lending activity and loan structures; and documentation and compliance requirements.

Commercial Lending Development Program (CLDP)

2021 Class Dates: September 9, 10; October 26, 27; November 18, 19;  December 9, 10
Cost: $2,250 for 8 classes

The CLDP has been redesigned based on our members’ feedback. This course emphasizes the entire commercial loan life cycle and provides participants with current lending approaches, an updated focus on key analytics and regulatory issues. Students will improve their credit and marketing skills as a result of this training, learning best practices by participating in case studies and learning first-hand from industry executive speakers.
